Quick Summary
1 | Strategy buys 950 BTC for $75.7 million
2 | Holdings reach 846,000 Bitcoin after the latest purchase
Strategy has resumed its Bitcoin accumulation strategy, purchasing 950 BTC for $75.7 million between September 14 and September 20, according to a regulatory filing. The company bought the Bitcoin at an average price of approximately $79,670 per coin, bringing its total holdings to 846,000 BTC. The latest purchase came after the company paused new Bitcoin acquisitions for two weeks.
The latest acquisition brings Strategy's total Bitcoin investment to approximately $63.8 billion, with an average acquisition cost of about $75,416 per BTC, including fees and expenses. The company remains the largest publicly traded corporate holder of Bitcoin, and its latest purchase restores its holdings to 846,000 BTC after previously reducing its position during the summer.
Strategy's latest move was not limited to Bitcoin. During the same period, the company repurchased approximately 1.77 million shares of STRC, its perpetual preferred stock, for around $174 million. Strategy said it still had approximately $875.1 million available under its preferred-stock repurchase program, alongside another $1 billion remaining under its MSTR common-stock repurchase authorization.
The two transactions show Strategy continuing to manage multiple parts of its capital structure at the same time. The company spent roughly $249.7 million on Bitcoin purchases and STRC repurchases during the week. Unlike some of its previous Bitcoin purchases, however, Strategy did not raise funds through its at-the-market offerings during the period from September 14 to September 20. This means the latest Bitcoin acquisition was funded from cash already available to the company.
Strategy's cash position also changed during the week. Its USD Cash balance declined from approximately $1.30 billion to $1.05 billion, while its separate USD Reserve decreased to about $5.04 billion from $5.10 billion. The company said the reserve was used partly to cover preferred-stock dividends and interest on outstanding debt, with approximately $57.4 million allocated for those obligations.
The latest purchase is significant for the Bitcoin market because Strategy remains one of the most prominent corporate buyers of the asset. Its continued accumulation provides another example of a publicly traded company maintaining substantial exposure to Bitcoin through its treasury strategy. At the same time, the company's simultaneous preferred-stock repurchases demonstrate that its capital allocation decisions extend beyond simply increasing its Bitcoin holdings.
For the broader market, the development is generally positive for Bitcoin sentiment because a major corporate holder has resumed purchasing after a short pause. However, the purchase itself does not guarantee continued buying or indicate future Bitcoin price movements. Strategy's growing exposure also means its financial performance remains closely connected to Bitcoin's market value, while its preferred securities and debt obligations remain important factors in its capital management
